Solving the Jigsaw’s training team provides nationally accredited training:

  1. Professional development training modules for professionals who work with children, including principals, teachers, school nurses, primary welfare officers, well being coordinators, family support and community health workers
  2. Facilitator training courses.

1. Professional development training modules

The modules provide a practical whole school, or cluster, approach to wellbeing, violence and bullying, and offer an excellent training opportunity for implementation of the National Safe Schools Framework.

The six modules are:

  • Whole-school approach to violence and bullying - Module One*
  • Facilitating respect, valuing diversity, encouraging discussion
    and maintaining confidentiality
  • Awkward conversations with kids
  • Creating a caring and nurturing classroom and school
  • Conflict within the school community
  • Exploring feelings and emotions in the classroom.

* Module One is a prerequisite for the other 5 training modules.

PD training dates 2012

Melbourne West - Footscray:  20 & 21 March, 1st & 2nd May, 5 & 6 June

Central Victoria - Bendigo:  27 & 28 March, 22 & 23 May, 24 & 25 July

With philanthropic support we are pleased to be able to offer training in QLD and NSW in 2012.  This training will be delivered in 2 x 3 day blocks.

Northern NSW - Byron Bay: 7, 8 & 9th May, 13, 14 & 15 August

Sydney: 28, 29 & 30th May, 6, 7 & 8 August

Central QLD - Rockhampton: 28, 29 & 30 May, 3, 4 & 5 September

North QLD - Cairns: 6, 7 & 8 August, 8, 9 & 10 October

2. Facilitator training courses

Jigsaw’s facilitator training course takes place over two years. The first year of the course involves participation in the six professional development training modules outlined above.

The second year includes:

  • 8 days of course work (60 hours)
  • school-based practical course work (60 hours)
  • assessment tasks (90 hours).

It trains participants in the program's ways of working with children and young people, and leads to national accreditation as a Solving the Jigsaw classroom facilitator.
